Join SimOps at LRZ Munich
We are pleased to announce an upcoming HPC SimOps (Simulation Operations) Meetup at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) in Munich, organized by the independent non-profit SimOps Foundation.
This in-person meetup is designed to bring together advanced students, researchers, and practitioners with a strong interest in high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence, engineering simulations, cloud computing, and applied computational science. The event will provide a focused yet informal environment for participants to exchange knowledge, network with peers and experts, and gain career inspiration from the growing field of SimOps — often described as the “DevOps of High Performance Computing.”
The primary audience includes students who are interested in, or who have already successfully completed, a SimOps training or certification program through the SimOps Certification Program (www.simops.com/certification), as well as information technology and engineering students eager to deepen their understanding of HPC-driven simulation workflows and scalable computing environments.
The program will feature a series of short and engaging presentations from distinguished contributors and members of the SimOps and HPC community. Confirmed speakers include Wolfgang Gentzsch, Maximilian Höb, and Johannes Watzl, who will share insights from their work and experiences in simulation operations, digital engineering, scalable computing, and applied HPC environments. In addition, two to three students (“SimOps Ambassadors”) who have already completed several SimOps trainings will present their perspectives on SimOps and reflect on their personal learning journeys. These presentations will provide valuable peer perspectives and practical examples of how SimOps-related skills can be applied in real-world academic and technical contexts.
Beyond the presentations, the meetup is intended to foster open discussion, collaboration, and new connections among participants. Whether you are currently exploring simulation technologies, working on computational projects, or considering a future specialization in HPC, AI, or engineering simulations, this event offers an excellent opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals and experts from the field. To maintain a relaxed and social atmosphere, light refreshments, food, and snacks will be provided. This will give attendees the opportunity to continue conversations, exchange ideas, and build professional connections in an informal setting following the talks.
We warmly invite all interested participants to join us for this engaging and collaborative afternoon at LRZ. Further details, including registration instructions, will be shared soon.
We look forward to welcoming you to Garching for an inspiring SimOps community gathering.
*) What is SimOps
SimOps is a community initiative designed to streamline simulation operations through best practices that integrate people, processes, and technology. The goal is to make high-performance computing more efficient and scalable, empowering teams to drive better business outcomes through advanced simulations.
